Baby Name Trends for 2012 – Boys
Isoki know how difficult it is to choose a name for your child, so thank goodness you have 9 months to narrow it down! We all remember the difficult but fun process of choosing names, and contemplating them for a few days before they made the short list.
We also found deciding the name for our business was just as tough! As you can see, we decided on “Isoki”, but you may not know why. Like the names we pick for our children, we wanted the name of our company to have a greater meaning also. The word Isoki comes from an African word meaning “a beautiful gift”, and we chose this particular word because we felt that a child is the most beautiful gift in the world.
All parents want to give their baby a perfect name. A name that expresses their family's values, background situations, complements their last name, and suits the personality they project for their baby. However, at the same time, history has shown that the baby names parents choose are strongly influenced by trends. The big surprise in the 2011 list of popular boys’ names is the decline of Jack, which has been on the top of the list for a long time. This year Jack has fallen to sixth place, though with very few new entrants to the list we can expect that Jack will be popular for years to come. Replacing Jack in the top position is Oliver, up from 3rd place last year and 7th position in 2010.
What’s in store for 2012? Strong animalistic boys names such as Bear, Fox, Wolf, Falcon, Hawk and Lionel and even Breaker, Wilder and Ranger.
