Great Ways to Celebrate the End of the School Year
Make the last few weeks before school lets out a fun, fantastic time for you and your child with these fun ideas.
- Countdown Calendar: Make a big calendar to hang on the wall for the last month of school. Ask your child write down things she wants to do when school is over, they may be goals such as reading a particular book, going to the zoo, or just playing their favourite games.
- Reflecting on the year past: Spend time noticing changes and accomplishments with your child. Are they taller than this time last year? Stronger? A better reader? What did your child learn in school this year? Make a list of thing that your child hopes to learn in the coming year. Include some wacky predictions in your list...How tall does your child think he/she will be at this time next year? Will they be able to do all their times tables by heart?
- Summer School Supplies: Why not replace and freshen up your home arts and crafts supplies at the end of the year? A new box of pencils or crayons and a fun (and inexpensive) note pad will do wonders to keep your little one reading and writing all summer. Plus it's a great reward for a year of hard work.
- Going Places: Pack your ISOKI bag for a day trip and take your child on a fun trip to celebrate how far she's come throughout the year. You can try something unusual like going out for high tea, something you get a keepsake from like pottery or plaster painting, or just go for pure fun with a day at the park. Get your child to write a story about the day, it’s a great memory for future years and a good way to encourage writing!
